Met a hillarious guy called Tommy from the Channel Islands who's been cycling round NZ for 8 months. He was complaining about keas (google it) which gave me my favourite quote from my trip so far; "keas, pie stealing bastards"

Tranz Alpine Train Journey: "kea's, pie stealing bastards"
The Kiwis are so friendly! One man stopped his car and got out to repoint me in the correct direction to the train station when I arrived the train official offered to change my seat to one which would give me a better view on the journey without me even asking! The train journey itself is incredible I can't really say much else. Just take a look at the photos. Well worth the money considering you could pay a similar amount in the UK to find yourself gazing in awe at the glorious grey industrial estates of rural England.
I'm in Greymouth for the next couple nights, having bought a tent I'm hoping to go further south camping afterwards. Still hasn't quite sunk in that I'm actually here.
